David Murphy founded David Murphy Engineering in 1963, which evolved to become David Murphy Towing in 1966.  He started manufactured sump guards for rally cars and car ramps before expanding the business to include towbars and roof racks for commercial and non-commercial vehicles and other accessories such as wheels and ladder racks.  David was also responsible for the design launch of Broniss Trailers in 1992 and is still design lead.

David has spent the majority of his life in the motor trade and is incredibly passionate about the business and industry as a whole.

Having welcomed his son Jonathan into the business in 2005 to take over many of the day to day management duties and expansion plans, David continues to lead in the design and development of trailers as well askey account management for our regular customers.

Outside of work, David is a huge motorsport fan.  He enjoys spending weekends travelling all over Ireland in his motorhome following motorsport and vintage car club runs.

Jonathan Murphy joined the family business, owned by his mother Muriel and father David in 2005 after reading Physics at Strathclyde University. He is committed to developing the business for the next generation.

Jonathan adopts a very hands-on approach, personally working alongside the company’s engineers and office based staff.  He is instrumental in defining the direction of the business and leads business development, recruitment, staff training, operations and performance management.

Like his father, Jonathan has a real passion for the business and industry, and his knowledge and commitment are evident to all who come into contact with him.  As such, he was invited to join the National Trailer and Towing Association (NTTA) working group for its Quality Secured Scheme.

When he’s not working, Jonathan enjoys spending time with his family, walking the dog and planning his next holiday.
